Meijer Launches Full-Service Pharmacy Inside Grand Rapids Hospital
Meijer has enhanced its collaboration with Michigan-based medical care group Corewell Health by opening a new full-service retail pharmacy at Blodgett Hospital in Grand Rapids, Mich. This marks Meijer’s second pharmacy located within a Corewell Health facility, following the launch of a similar pharmacy at Butterworth Hospital in 2015.
“Our pharmacies are designed to be a one-stop health and wellness destination, and expanding our partnership with Corewell Health is another way we can ensure we are where patients need us most,” stated Meijer President & CEO Rick Keyes, who previously worked as a pharmacist for the Grand Rapids-based retailer.
The new 3,100-square-foot pharmacy offers a wide range of over-the-counter products and comprehensive services, including immunizations. Additionally, the pharmacy features several key services:
- Meds to Beds Discharge Coordination: This service delivers essential medications directly to a patient’s bedside before they leave the hospital.
- Meijer Specialty Pharmacy Services: This includes providing specialty medications and additional care for patients managing certain chronic conditions.
- Compounding: The pharmacy can tailor prescriptions to meet individual patient needs.
Owned and operated by Meijer, this pharmacy was part of a significant remodel project at Blodgett Hospital, which also included upgrades to the main entrance and patient drop-off area. It is conveniently located on the hospital’s main floor, adjacent to the discharge lounge.
Prescriptions filled at the Meijer pharmacy are eligible for mPerks and can be set up for automatic refill reminders.
The operating hours for the Meijer pharmacy at Blodgett Hospital are from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The pharmacy will be closed on Sundays and holidays.
Meijer is a privately owned, family-operated retailer with over 500 supercenters, grocery stores, neighborhood markets, and express locations throughout the Midwest, employing more than 70,000 people.
