Urban “corner store” and café chain Foxtrot is making a comeback after abruptly closing its doors in April. The company has begun reopening its stores on a limited basis and has relaunched its digital order-ahead pickup app alongside a one-hour delivery service.

Prior to its closure, Foxtrot operated 33 convenience stores in cities such as Chicago, Washington, D.C., Dallas, and Austin, Texas. The abrupt closure on April 23 came without prior notice to employees and occurred less than six months after Foxtrot merged with Dom’s Kitchen & Market to form the new entity, Outfox Hospitality.

The first reopened location is in the Gold Coast of Chicago, which welcomed customers back on September 5. A second location in the Old Town neighborhood followed on September 19.

With the relaunch, Foxtrot has enhanced its coffee experience and revamped its food offerings, introducing exclusive coffee blends, signature breakfast tacos, made-fresh-daily panini sandwiches, bowls, and freshly baked cookies. Customers can now order these items ahead for in-store pickup via the app.

In addition to food, all of Foxtrot’s other popular store items are available for pickup within 30 minutes or delivery within one hour, including a selection of spirits that can only be purchased through the app. Delivery services will be available in the same zones as before the closures, extending from Rogers Park to the South Loop.

Foxtrot Co-Founder Taylor Bloom emphasized the importance of digital services, stating, “Foxtrot began as a digital-only delivery service, and our e-commerce offerings have remained a cornerstone of the business since the day we opened our first physical store. Restoring our e-commerce capabilities was a top priority in our relaunch plan. The reintroduction of our mobile apps provides customers with even more ways to enjoy Foxtrot, all with the added benefit of our industry-leading $5 flat delivery fee.”

Chicago-based Foxtrot Café & Market aims to provide a modern coffee shop and upscale market experience, featuring a curated selection of coffee, groceries, and café products from local makers and beyond.
