Stop & Shop Introduces ‘Savings’ Kiosks in Half of Its Stores
Stop & Shop, the East Coast grocery chain, is expanding its innovative Savings Station kiosks to half of its stores as part of a larger plan to enhance the shopping experience. The company first introduced the kiosk in 2023 as part of a pilot program and is now rolling it out across its locations in preparation for the Christmas holiday. Stop & Shop plans to have the kiosks in all 350+ stores by the end of January 2025.
The Savings Station kiosk is designed to make it easier for customers to access and activate digital coupons and personalized offers. One of the key features of the kiosk is that it does not require shoppers to use a smartphone, computer, or internet access to manage their digital savings. Customers can scan their GO Rewards loyalty card or enter their phone number to load available coupons and activate personalized discounts based on their purchase history. A QR code is also provided, allowing for easy access to offers. After loading the coupons, customers receive a printout detailing the offers activated on their loyalty card, with savings automatically applied at checkout.
Roger Wheeler, president of Stop & Shop, emphasized that the kiosk was developed based on customer feedback. Many shoppers expressed frustration about missing out on digital coupon savings, prompting the retailer to introduce a solution that would remove friction from the shopping process and improve convenience.
With 58,000 employees and over 400 stores across Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, and New Jersey, Stop & Shop continues to innovate in ways that make shopping easier for its customers. The introduction of the Savings Station kiosks is another step in the company’s ongoing effort to enhance the in-store experience and keep pace with customer demand for digital convenience.
