German discount grocer Aldi has expanded its presence in Michigan, opening a new store on Thursday in the Kalamazoo suburb of Portage, located at 5070 S. Westnedge Ave. This latest addition marks another step in Aldi’s ongoing growth in the U.S.

To celebrate the grand opening, Aldi treated the first 100 customers with gift bags filled with popular Aldi products. Shoppers also have the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes through September 29 for a chance to win a $500 Aldi gift card.

“Our stores are designed to make grocery shopping smarter, faster, and easier,” said Ryan Fritsch, Webberville Vice President for Aldi, in a press release. “At Aldi, we keep costs as low as possible through our disciplined approach to simplicity and efficiency. We’re excited to continue offering Portage residents an affordable way of shopping, with the products they love at the lowest prices, period.”

Aldi has been a part of the Portage community for over six years and is committed to providing quality groceries at budget-friendly prices. The retailer’s focus on efficiency and cost-saving has made it a popular choice for shoppers across the country.

The grocer has also been gaining significant momentum in 2024. According to mid-September data from Placer, Aldi saw double-digit foot traffic growth in the first five months of the year. As of September 17, Aldi operates 2,414 locations in the U.S., according to http://ScrapeHero.com .
