Wage Increase Announced for Wine Workers in Bristol
Wage Boost Secured for Bristol Wine Workers
New agreement improves pay, pensions, and protections while averting strike action
Bristol wine workers wage conditions have significantly improved following a new pay deal between Encirc and union representatives. The agreement halted planned industrial action and marked a major step forward for workers’ rights.
The 4.4% wage increase applies to all staff at Encirc’s Bristol site and includes retroactive payment from January this year.
Key Pay and Benefit Enhancements Announced
The deal also includes a 1% increase in pension contributions, further strengthening workers’ long-term financial security. Additionally, employees will now receive higher overtime wages.
Encirc has upgraded redundancy and sickness policies, ensuring workers get better support in times of hardship.
Union officials praised the outcome and acknowledged workers’ unity and readiness to strike as a driving force behind the deal.
Union Celebrates Workers’ Determination
Sharon Graham, general secretary of Unite, stated that the result proves the union’s sharp focus on pay and working conditions works.
John Sweeney, Unite’s regional officer, emphasized that the improved Bristol wine workers wage is just one win. Workers have also protected their rights to fully negotiate in future deals.
Together, these gains represent not only improved compensation but long-term empowerment for workers at the Bristol site.
Encirc Ensures Business Continuity
Despite the industrial action threats, Encirc maintained production and met supply chain needs using contingency plans. A company spokesperson confirmed satisfaction with the resolution and emphasized the importance of reaching a mutual agreement.
With the dispute resolved, both parties now look forward to a more cooperative relationship focused on fairness and stability.
