New Pharmacy Format Focuses on Healthcare Needs

CVS Health plans to introduce a series of smaller stores to enhance pharmacy services in select communities. Each location will measure less than 5,000 square feet and focus on essential healthcare services. These stores will offer a full-service pharmacy and a limited range of over-the-counter products.

Expanding Access to Medications and Services

CVS Health aims to improve patient care by introducing these new small-format stores. According to a CVS Health spokesperson, the company designed these stores to address specific community healthcare needs. They will focus on providing medications, immunizations, and pharmacist-provided healthcare services.

The CVS stores concept reflects a strategic shift to ensure better access to essential healthcare services. By reducing retail product selections, CVS can focus on meeting urgent medical needs in underserved areas.

Traditional CVS Locations Continue to Grow

While focusing on smaller pharmacy locations, CVS Health continues to expand its traditional CVS Pharmacy stores. Between 2022 and 2024, CVS opened 100 new stores. In 2025, the company plans to launch nearly 30 new locations, including those within Target stores. This balanced expansion strategy allows CVS to meet varying community demands effectively.

A Customized Approach for Better Support

The introduction of CVS aligns with the company’s goal to address healthcare gaps. By tailoring store formats to community needs, CVS Health aims to improve patient care and expand service accessibility.
