H Mart partners with Uber for delivery
Asian supermarket chain H Mart has announced a strategic partnership with Uber for on-demand and scheduled delivery via Uber Eats.
This initiative will involve over 78 H Mart stores and marks a significant step in enhancing H Mart’s e-commerce capabilities.
Collaboration Details
The collaboration allows customers to place orders through Uber Eats, offering the convenience of same-day delivery from H Mart via Uber Direct. This feature enables H Mart to leverage Uber’s extensive courier network for orders placed directly on their own platforms.
Special Promotion
To celebrate this partnership, H Mart customers can enjoy a limited-time offer of up to 50% off orders over $50 when they order through Uber Eats.
Uber’s Grocery Delivery Expansion
Uber has been actively expanding its grocery delivery services since introducing them in July 2020. The company has partnered with several food retailers, including Albertsons, Meijer, Kroger, Sprouts Farmers Market, SpartanNash, and Hy-Vee. During a recent earnings call, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi noted that around 15% of Eats’ monthly active users had made purchases from the grocery vertical.
H Mart’s Digital Transformation
In addition to partnering with Uber, H Mart has selected the digital commerce platform VTEX to enhance its e-commerce operations. This transition represents a major milestone for H Mart as it shifts from a legacy commerce platform to a SaaS-based system.
With the integration of VTEX, H Mart has successfully combined its separate systems for dry and fresh goods into a single commerce experience. This allows customers to order both shelf-stable and fresh items in one seamless transaction.
Conclusion
H Mart currently operates over 90 locations across North America, and this new partnership with Uber, along with its digital transformation efforts, positions the supermarket chain for continued growth in the competitive grocery e-commerce landscape.
