Excitement builds in Watchung as the ShopRite Watchung Grand Opening brings a modern supermarket to the Blue Star Shopping Center.
The upgraded location features premium offerings, global flavors, and community-focused service in a 51,000-square-foot shopping destination.

What Shoppers Can Expect

Shoppers can explore hand-rolled sushi, gourmet sandwiches, and soup and coffee bars inspired by Fairway Market and Gourmet Garage.
The store includes the Fairway Market Artisanal Cheese Shop, offering over 600 varieties and expert cheesemonger guidance.

Watchung’s new ShopRite features custom-cut meats, fresh seafood, and oyster tastings at the full-service butcher and seafood counter.
Additionally, the produce department offers organic items, specialty fruits, and freshly cut selections delivered daily for maximum freshness.

Grand Opening Festivities and Community Impact

On April 13, festivities start at 6 a.m. with swag bags and free eggs for the first 250 customers through the doors.
Shoppers will enjoy pastries, fresh coffee, live entertainment, food trucks, and giveaways throughout the community-focused celebration.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the Sumas family at 9 a.m. will highlight ShopRite’s deep community commitment since 1969.
The family will donate $5,000 each to Dudley House Veterans Transitional Housing and the Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

Designed sustainably, the new store includes LED lighting and eco-friendly refrigeration to reduce its environmental impact.
As part of the Wakefern Food Corp. network, ShopRite supports causes through programs like ShopRite Partners In Caring.
