The THC Beverage Market Remains Untamed but Growing Fast

Why the THC beverage market is booming despite regulatory gaps

The THC beverage market is expanding quickly. Yet, regulations and standards still lag behind. This leaves businesses and consumers navigating uncertainty.

At this year’s National Restaurant Association Show, the new Hemp Beverage Pavilion caught major attention. Exhibitors poured samples of sodas, seltzers, and canned cocktails infused with varying amounts of THC.

According to Rick Schepp of Green Thumb Industries, daily THC users now outpace alcohol drinkers. That statistic shows how fast the THC beverage market is shifting consumer habits.

Diverse Products and Growing Popularity

The variety of cannabis-infused drinks keeps growing. Brands now offer everything from classic sodas to craft cocktails. Popular options include Cloud Cola’s THC-infused Root Beer and Orange Creamsicle sodas.

Meanwhile, Louie Louie offers fruit seltzers with flavors like Blackberry Lemon and Ginger Cucumber. These contain both THC and CBD for added appeal. Flyers Cocktail Company also sells THC versions of classics like the Margarita and Apero Spritz.

These drinks have hit grocery shelves, bars, and soon, even airports. Flyers Cocktails plans to debut the first THC-infused drink at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport.

Legal Landscape Remains a Challenge

The 2018 Farm Bill legalized hemp-infused beverages federally. However, state laws vary widely. Some states embrace THC drinks, while others impose strict rules.

Phil Minissale from Louie Louie believes mainstream retail sales help destigmatize these products. But without clear, unified regulations, businesses still face major challenges.

Entrepreneurs See Huge Growth Potential

Despite the uncertainty, companies continue to expand. North Canna Co. reports rapid growth across 22 states. The company plans to launch a THC-infused bottled spirit this summer. This product could replace alcohol in popular cocktails.

Craig Lewis from Flyers Cocktails says the industry needs smart, clear rules. He supports age restrictions, taxes, and better production standards to legitimize the space.

Conclusion

The THC beverage market is young, exciting, and growing fast. But without consistent rules, it remains the Wild West. Still, brands push forward, fueled by strong demand and shifting consumer habits.
