Tops Stores in Pennsylvania Introduce Ready-to-Drink Cocktails to Alcohol Selections

Tops Markets LLC has expanded its alcohol offerings in Pennsylvania by introducing ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktails at select locations, following the passage of new state legislation in July. Customers can now find a variety of RTD cocktails in 12-ounce cans available in both 4- and 8-pack options, featuring popular brands such as Absolut, Cutwater, High Noon, Surfside, and Sunny D.

The RTD cocktails are available for purchase at six specific Tops locations from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. These locations include:

  • 1702 East 38th Street, Erie
  • 712 West 38th Street, Erie
  • 74 Market Street, Warren
  • 150 Main Street, Bradford
  • 144 Center Street, Meadville
  • 136 Ennis Lane, Towanda

Jamie Szpylman, the category business manager of alcoholic beverages for Northeast Shared Services, highlighted that this new addition enhances Tops’ existing selection of wines, beers, and seltzers, including many local options.

The expansion follows Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s signing of Senate Bill 688, which allows the sale of low ABV spirits-based RTD cocktails at retail outlets that already sell beer and wine products with similar or lower alcohol content. The law took effect on September 15. Other grocery chains, including The Giant Co. and Weis Markets, are also starting to offer RTD cocktails in response to this legislation.

Based in Williamsville, N.Y., Tops operates 152 stores across New York, Pennsylvania, and Vermont and is recognized as one of the largest private employers in western New York, employing over 14,000 associates. The company’s parent, Northeast Grocery Inc., is ranked No. 49 on Progressive Grocer’s 2024 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America.
