Ex-Walgreens Manager Gets 12-Year Sentence for Crimes at D.C. Store
Walgreens Manager Sentencing: Ex-Employee Gets 12 Years for Armed Robberies
The recent Walgreens manager sentencing highlights a troubling case of internal crime and betrayal within a trusted retail store.
Former Manager Led Organized Robbery Ring in D.C.
Michael Robinson, a former Walgreens store manager in Washington, D.C., received over 12 years in federal prison.
He orchestrated a series of armed robberies at the Chinatown store between July 2023 and February 2024.
Robinson collaborated with another former manager, London Teeter, and two additional accomplices.
Authorities revealed that Robinson and his team used insider information to plan their crimes carefully.
Robinson pleaded guilty in March to conspiracy to interfere with interstate commerce and to using a firearm during a robbery.
The court also ordered him to pay $7,200 in restitution for damages and stolen funds.
How the Scheme Was Carried Out
Robinson and Teeter exploited their access and knowledge as managers to stage monthly robberies.
They shared details like cash schedules, guard shifts, and office money levels to aid the heists.
Each robbery occurred while one of them worked in-store, helping the criminals avoid suspicion and bypass security.
In some cases, they even faked being victims during the crimes to avoid blame.
Robinson admitted to watching surveillance footage with Teeter to improve their cover stories.
He even asked an accomplice to physically assault him during one robbery to make it appear more realistic.
Court documents report they stole nearly $29,000 over seven separate incidents.
Despite Walgreens’ efforts to stop the crimes, including hiring armed police, the robberies continued for months.
More Sentencings Expected for Other Suspects
The Walgreens manager sentencing only marks the beginning, as other participants await their court dates.
London Teeter, Kamanye Williams, and Gianni Robinson have not yet received final sentencing from the court.
Authorities praised law enforcement coordination that led to the arrests and convictions.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office emphasized the seriousness of insider crime and its threat to public safety.
These crimes damaged not only Walgreens’ finances but also trust between employees and management.
The company continues to take stronger security measures in response to the case.
