Walmart Launches Back-to-School Campaign Featuring Items Priced Under $10.
As the back-to-school shopping season heats up, Walmart is preparing to offer an extensive range of products priced under $10, the retail giant announced on Monday.
This collection includes thousands of items such as Pen Gear composition books for just $0.50, Bic’s 10-pack of ballpoint pens priced at $1.77, and Pen Gear highlighters for only $0.88.
In addition to appealing to students, Walmart is targeting teachers and educators with its Classroom Registry section available on the Walmart website and app, designed to help educators minimize their expenses for classroom supplies.
The campaign also features grocery items ideal for school lunches.
“New this year, customers can shop Walmart’s one-click food basket, which provides two weeks of lunches for approximately $2 per day,” the company stated. “This basket includes 16 kid-approved items, such as PB&J essentials, juice, fruit, and snacks, for easy and affordable school lunches.”
Shoppers can also take advantage of health care services while purchasing school supplies. This includes pharmacy appointments and deals on eyewear, with frames starting at just $9 from brands like DKNY, Columbia, Bebe, Nautica, and Nike Eyewear.
“Customers can even virtually ‘try on’ more than 900 eyewear options online,” the company noted.
According to a report released on Monday by Kroger-owned data analytics firm 84.51°, most shoppers have yet to begin their back-to-school supply purchases.
The Real Time Insights report indicated that 76% of survey respondents had not started their back-to-school shopping as of July 9.
Furthermore, 89% of those intending to shop at a grocery or mass merchandise store expect to do so in a physical location.
Their top three priorities for school supply shopping this year include: finding items within budget (31%), securing items on sale (24%), and locating items on their list (21%).
When assessing value, respondents from the 84.51° survey emphasized price and affordability (46%), quality (19%), and durability (12%) as their key considerations.
