For a monthly fee of $10, customers can have high-quality products delivered to their door in reusable containers, with empty containers picked up each week. The company aims to make it easier for customers to shop sustainably by providing curated quality essentials, local favorites, and heavy/bulky items without delivery fees or tips.

An innovative startup focused on providing groceries and household essentials in reusable packaging, The Rounds, has successfully raised $24 million in Series B funding. This investment, backed by Modern Ventures, FJ Labs, and other investors, brings the company’s total funding to $66 million, positioning it to expand its AI-powered platform and promote a more sustainable shopping experience.
Funding to Drive Expansion and Technological Advancements
The newly secured funds will be utilized to enhance The Rounds’ machine learning capabilities, grow the team, and enter new markets while building on its existing footprint. “The Rounds offers a more sustainable and convenient shopping experience,” stated Alex Torrey, co-founder and CEO. “We’ve already saved over one million pounds of packaging waste, demonstrating that sustainability can be achieved without sacrificing convenience.”
Sustainable Logistics and Inventory Management
The Rounds tackles packaging waste by sourcing products locally in bulk and delivering them in reusable containers. Its AI-driven logistics network optimizes delivery and refill scheduling to minimize waste and maximize efficiency. The funding will support the enhancement of these machine learning capabilities, improving production timing and offering more personalized product recommendations to customers.
Innovative Features and Product Expansion
Recent platform updates include the introduction of features like “refill day” selection and the “Psychic Home Manager,” which helps customers manage their orders seamlessly. Additionally, The Rounds has expanded its product range to include up to a hundred new SKUs, offering everything from fresh produce and local goods to household essentials like almond milk, mac and cheese, and upcycled pasta.
Growing Footprint and Future Plans
Founded in 2019, The Rounds currently operates in Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Atlanta. With this latest funding round, the company aims to further expand its reach and continue reducing packaging waste, reinforcing its commitment to sustainability and convenience for modern consumers.
