The Fresh Market Opens First Chicago Store in Former Dom’s Location
The Fresh Market has launched its first Chicago store, taking over a former Dom’s Kitchen and Market site in the Lincoln Park area. This marks a significant step for the North Carolina-based grocer, which is expanding its presence in Illinois with a total of four locations in the state and 163 nationwide. The Fresh Market’s entry follows Dom’s sudden closure of its two Chicago locations in April, alongside Foxtrot’s shut down of 33 stores across various cities, including Chicago.
To celebrate the opening, The Fresh Market is hosting celebrity chef Carla Hall on Thursday from 4-7 p.m., where she’ll be sampling her Sweet Heritage Butter Tarts. The store is also holding a Harry Potter-themed contest, giving customers a chance to win tickets to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at Chicago’s James M. Nederlander Theatre.
In addition, The Fresh Market’s new Lincoln Park location will contribute to local hunger relief by partnering with the Greater Chicago Food Depository for regular food donations. This makes it the second Fresh Market store to participate in local food bank support, enhancing its community engagement as it establishes its presence in the Chicago market.
