7-Eleven Plans to Open 500 New Stores Between 2025 and 2027

7-Eleven has announced a major expansion plan to open 500 new stores across the United States between 2025 and 2027. These stores will follow the “New Standard” concept, evolving from 7-Eleven’s “Evolution” stores, which debuted in Dallas in 2019 and feature unique offerings such as in-store restaurants, craft beers, premium products, and advanced digital experiences.

Key Highlights of the Expansion:

  • Opening 125 New Stores in 2025: The company aims to ramp up the growth pipeline, totaling 500 new stores by 2027.
  • New Standard Store Format: Responding to customer feedback, these stores will be larger, more food-centric, and include expanded digital offerings, personalized experiences, and additional fuel pumps.
  • Performance Metrics: The New Standard stores are seeing a 13% increase in same-store sales in their first year. At full maturity (four years), sales are projected to increase by 30%, reaching $8,219 in daily sales per store.

Strategic Growth Priorities:

7-Eleven’s growth plan is centered around four pillars:

  1. Grow Proprietary Products: Focus on fresh foods, exclusive beverages, and private-label items.
  2. Accelerate Digital Products and Delivery: Increase investments in digital experiences to enhance customer engagement.
  3. Improve Efficiencies and Cost Leadership: Streamline operations to reduce costs and improve profitability.
  4. Grow and Enhance Store Network: Build more locations and modernize existing ones to increase accessibility.

Food-Focused Growth Strategy:

Food remains at the core of 7-Eleven’s growth strategy, with plans to expand offerings like grab-and-go hot cases, bakery items, and specialty beverages. Investments will also continue in 7-Eleven’s quick-service restaurant brands, such as Laredo Taco Company, Speedy Café, and Raise the Roost Chicken and Biscuits.

Currently, 7-Eleven operates approximately 13,229 locations in the U.S. and Canada, and over 83,000 stores globally. With 51% of the U.S. population living within two miles of a 7-Eleven, the company has an extensive last-mile distribution network, allowing it to reach customers more effectively.
