Aldi is making waves in the retail world with its annual Aldi 2024 (Un)Wrapped campaign, showcasing the biggest trends of the year while celebrating its rapid growth. In 2024, nearly two out of every five of Aldi’s 50 million customers were new to the store, signaling a strong appeal to shoppers.

The fast-growing discount grocer is progressing toward its ambitious goal of opening 800 new U.S. locations by 2028, having added nearly 120 new stores this year alone. This expansion contributes to Aldi’s increasing presence, with about a quarter of all U.S. households visiting the store in 2024.

Aldi’s focus on organic foods has been particularly successful, with customers purchasing impressive amounts of popular items: 43 million lbs. of bananas, 20 million packs of grass-fed ground beef, 9 million cartons of organic eggs, 9.4 million lbs. of greens, and 11 million jars of pasta sauce. Additionally, Aldi sold more than 2 million bottles of Barissimo Cold Foam and over 1.5 million bottles of California Heritage sparkling wines.

While Aldi is renowned for its low prices and no-frills shopping experience, it also saw success in its non-food offerings. Socks emerged as the retailer’s most popular non-food product, with nearly 80,000 pairs purchased in 2024. These socks, part of the Aldi Finds aisle, were among the more than 2,000 new items introduced this year, highlighting Aldi’s ability to combine essentials with unique, limited-time finds to attract customers.

With this rapid expansion and a diverse range of popular products, Aldi is clearly positioning itself for continued growth in the coming years.
