Aldi US Expands Its Wine Selection
Aldi US Expands Premium Wine Selection with Global Offerings
Aldi US is enhancing its wine aisle with a global twist. The discount grocer, based in Batavia, Illinois, has launched a new Specially Selected Wine Collection, featuring 10 premium wines from renowned regions across the globe. Shoppers can now enjoy offerings from Côtes de Provence in France, Uco Valley in Argentina, Marlborough in New Zealand, and more, including Spain’s Rioja and Australia’s Barossa Valley. Remarkably, all bottles are priced under $15, emphasizing Aldi’s commitment to combining quality and affordability.
A Growing Demand for Private-Label Wines
The expansion comes as private-label wines experience notable growth across the industry. According to Circana, private-label wine sales increased by 9.1% in June, a trend echoed by Aldi, which reported double-digit growth in wine sales in recent years. “Inflation continues to pressure consumer budgets, especially during the holiday season, when people entertain more but don’t want to compromise on quality or price,” said Joan Kavanaugh, Aldi’s Vice President of National Buying.
What Makes the Specially Selected Wine Collection Stand Out?
Aldi’s Specially Selected brand, first introduced in 2013, already offers a range of premium products like gourmet pastas, cheeses, and meats. Now, the addition of wine expands Aldi’s reputation for delivering value-packed, high-quality items.
“Our Specially Selected Wine Collection ensures customers have access to premium wines from iconic regions around the world at unbeatable prices,” Kavanaugh said. Aldi’s private-label partnerships include collaborations with eight of the top 25 wineries in the U.S., who collectively control more than 75% of the market share. This extensive network enables Aldi to source world-class wines while maintaining affordability.
How Aldi Keeps Prices Low
Aldi’s simple, efficient operational model plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional value. By maintaining direct relationships with wineries and winemakers for over 40 years, Aldi eliminates the middleman, significantly reducing costs.
“We’re proud to offer the Specially Selected Wine Collection for under $15,” Kavanaugh added. “This gives shoppers the chance to enjoy world-class wines without breaking the bank.”
Embodying Affordable Luxury
With this global wine expansion, Aldi continues to bridge the gap between premium quality and affordability. Shoppers can now take a global tasting tour without leaving the store, further solidifying Aldi’s position as a leader in the private-label grocery market.
