Co-op is bringing six new suppliers to its shelves this month as part of its Apiary incubator programme, which seeks to support and mentor emerging food and drink businesses. These brands will be stocked in over 100 Co-op convenience stores, marking the third wave of suppliers to benefit from the initiative.

The Apiary programme focuses on suppliers that offer a unique point of difference and align with Co-op’s values, promoting diversity, inclusion, and purpose-driven innovation. Participating suppliers receive tailored mentoring, insights, and advice covering the entire product journey, alongside access to a supplier community network for collaborative growth.

The six new brands entering Co-op stores include:

  • Cháps: A beverage brand inspired by traditional African drinks.
  • Cheeky Nibble: A premium snacks and cereals brand.
  • Eleat Cereal: High-protein, high-fiber cereals with low sugar content.
  • Loro Crisps: Vegan, gluten-free plantain crisps.
  • Family Secret Proppadoms: A healthier alternative to traditional poppadoms.
  • Some Grub: A dog treat brand, marking the first pet care brand in the Apiary programme.

Rebecca Oliver, Co-op’s head of commercial for drinks, frozen, community buying, and the Apiary, stated:

“Seeing these innovative new products hit Co-op shelves is always an exciting time for our Apiary programme. Shoppers in a convenience setting look for quality and innovation—products that make life easier, are great for on-the-go consumption, or offer indulgence.

“Going live in store is a key milestone for these brands, marking the beginning of the next chapter for the suppliers our Incubator is proud to work with. We are confident that these products offer a real point of difference to enthuse, excite, and resonate with shoppers in our communities.”

This launch follows Co-op’s brand accelerator scheme, introduced in September to complement the Apiary programme. Designed to foster growth for smaller suppliers, the scheme provides access to masterclasses, mentor networking, category buyer support, and Co-op’s Gift to Give programme, which facilitates larger suppliers aiding smaller businesses.

Co-op’s commitment to supporting innovative, purpose-driven brands continues to enrich its offering, meeting the needs of convenience shoppers while championing supplier diversity.
