DoorDash continues to expand its grocery delivery services, announcing new partnerships with five regional grocery chains on Monday: Fresh Encounter, Fruitful Yield, Plum Market, Robért Fresh Market, and Stew Leonard’s. This marks another milestone in DoorDash’s rapid growth in the grocery space, further establishing the platform’s presence as a key player in last-mile delivery.

Strategic Growth in Grocery Delivery

DoorDash’s grocery business has significantly expanded since its launch in 2020, with numerous grocery chains joining the platform. Notably, DoorDash has partnered with major retailers such as Ahold Delhaize USA, Haggen, H Mart, Wegmans, and Save A Lot. These collaborations reflect the growing demand for on-demand grocery delivery, which has become an essential part of consumers’ routines.

Fuad Hannon, Vice President of New Verticals at DoorDash, expressed pride in the company’s ability to connect consumers with local grocers, stating, “On-demand delivery continues to play an essential role in consumers’ daily routines.” The goal is to make it easier for customers to access both their regular grocery stores and discover new favorites.

New Regional Grocer Partners

The five regional grocery chains now partnering with DoorDash are:

  • Fresh Encounter: Operating 50 stores in Ohio, Indiana, and Northern Kentucky under multiple banners such as Great Scot and Remke Markets.
  • Fruitful Yield: A health-food chain with 11 locations in suburban Chicago, focused on organic and natural products.
  • Plum Market: A natural and organic grocery chain with five stores in Michigan and Florida.
  • Robért Fresh Market: A New Orleans-based independent chain with six locations serving the metro area.
  • Stew Leonard’s: Known for its unique, large-format stores, Stew Leonard’s operates eight locations across Connecticut, New Jersey, and New York.

Growth and Future Prospects

DoorDash’s grocery service has been gaining momentum, as seen in its third-quarter earnings report from October, with DoorDash’s loyalty program, DashPass, reaching 18 million members. The company reports growth across both urban and suburban areas, reinforcing its broad appeal in grocery delivery. DoorDash CFO Ravi Inukonda mentioned that the platform sees strong performance across various regions, contributing to their growing market share.

The addition of these new partners, coupled with the success of their delivery service, suggests that DoorDash will continue to dominate the last-mile delivery market and further integrate with grocery retailers in the coming years.
