Grocery Outlet Holding Finalizes Acquisition of United Grocery Outlet
Grocery Outlet Holding Corp. has officially completed the acquisition of United Grocery Outlet, a discount grocery chain with 40 stores and a distribution center in the Southeastern U.S.
The move significantly expands Grocery Outlet’s footprint into new regions including Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, and Virginia.
This acquisition positions Grocery Outlet to rapidly scale its operations in the Southeast, building on the strong performance of United Grocery Outlet’s stores. RJ Sheedy, the president and CEO of Grocery Outlet, highlighted the strategic alignment between the two companies, citing shared customer value propositions and similar opportunistic buying strategies. “These stores have a track record of strong performance and give us immediate scale and a platform for future expansion in this new region,” Sheedy said in a statement.
The acquisition complements Grocery Outlet’s ambitious growth plans, as the company intends to open 60 new stores this year alone. With the addition of these locations, Grocery Outlet now operates 468 stores across nine states, further solidifying its presence in the discount grocery market.
