H-E-B Unveils New Store Featuring a BBQ Restaurant
H-E-B has announced plans to build a third store in San Marcos, Texas, and is raising the bar by including a True Texas BBQ restaurant inside the location. The new 114,000-square-foot store will be situated near McCarty Lane, just off I-35. While the retailer has not disclosed an expected opening date, the inclusion of the BBQ restaurant adds a unique feature to the grocery shopping experience.
This news follows closely on the heels of H-E-B‘s recent groundbreaking for a 101,000-square-foot store in Manor, an Austin suburb, set to open in late 2025. Additionally, H-E-B revealed plans for a 140,000-square-foot store in Forney, a Dallas suburb.
Cathy Harm, H-E-B’s senior vice president for the Central Texas Region, shared her excitement: “This is a project we have had in the works for years, and we look forward to serving even more customers in this growing part of Texas with the best H-E-B has to offer.”
H-E-B operates more than 30 True Texas BBQ restaurants across the state, which serve a variety of smoked meats prepared in-house over Texas oak wood, along with classic sides like brisket beans, creamed corn, and homestyle potato salad.
In addition to the BBQ restaurant, the new San Marcos location will feature a fuel station, pharmacy pick-up spaces, and a dedicated curbside area with parking spaces for customers.
