Hy-Vee Collaborates with Deliverect for Fast and Fresh Upgrade
Deliverect, the leading global food tech SaaS company, has announced a partnership with Hy-Vee aimed at enhancing the retailer’s digital food ordering capabilities.
By integrating Deliverect into Hy-Vee’s Fast and Fresh Market Grille Express stations, the partnership will streamline order processing and menu management, enabling Hy-Vee to deliver an outstanding customer experience while preparing orders quickly and efficiently. Additionally, Hy-Vee will utilize Deliverect’s analytics to make data-driven decisions regarding menu offerings and inventory management.
Hy-Vee’s Fast & Fresh convenience stores, with 190 locations across the Midwest, are designed to cater to the evolving needs of today’s busy consumers by combining convenience with quality. The integration with Deliverect automates the order creation process, eliminating the need for manual entry of meal and snack orders, allowing staff to focus on preparing high-quality meals.
The convenience store sector is undergoing a significant transformation, seizing the opportunity to capture a larger share of consumers’ food spending. According to the National Association of Convenience Stores, the food service category—encompassing prepared food, commissary, and hot dispensed beverages—now represents 26.9% of in-store sales. As convenience stores increasingly enter the food ordering space, delivery apps are becoming essential for meeting consumer demand.
“Convenience stores are at an exciting juncture as they begin to play alongside restaurants in the food delivery arena, and technology is necessary to make this shift successful,” stated Noah Hayes, Americas Vice President at Deliverect. “Deliverect’s suite of solutions is designed to enable food service businesses to streamline their operations and deliver a frictionless customer experience.”
Hy-Vee initiated its collaboration with Deliverect in January 2024, piloting a custom integration across all store locations. The project was completed in just three months, during which Hy-Vee’s Fast & Fresh app was developed to leverage Deliverect’s order and menu management capabilities. The app provides a seamless ordering experience akin to popular platforms like Uber Eats and DoorDash. Deliverect also created a custom curbside notification solution, significantly enhancing customer convenience and operational efficiency at each store location.
“As a brand focused on convenience, it’s essential that we meet our busy consumers where they are,” said Jennifer Lambert, Senior Vice President of IT Strategy and Planning for Hy-Vee. “Deliverect’s innovative solutions have dramatically increased the speed of our curbside pickup service while providing us with key insights to maintain smooth operations and keep our customers satisfied. We look forward to the future evolution of this collaboration.”
