Lidl First Major Retailer to Launch Pennies Donation System

Lidl Rolls Out Nationwide Pennies Donation System
Lidl is launching the Lidl Pennies Donation System across all UK stores, allowing customers to make digital micro-donations at checkout. This initiative follows a successful trial and provides shoppers with an easy way to donate up to 30p per transaction via the card reader.
Supporting the NSPCC with Every Transaction
The rollout will take place between mid-February and mid-March as part of Lidl’s commitment to fundraising for the NSPCC. The retailer has extended its partnership with the charity for another five years, aiming to raise £5 million by 2030. The donations will specifically support the NSPCC’s Childline Twilight service, which helps vulnerable children seeking support during the night.
Helping Thousands of Children Through Micro-Donations
The Lidl Pennies Donation System will enable Childline to double its reach over the next five years. This expansion will provide assistance to more than 100,000 children in need of support after hours. Since 2017, Lidl has raised an impressive £10 million for the NSPCC, and this initiative aims to build on that success.
Lidl’s Commitment to Making a Difference
Lidl GB CEO Ryan McDonnell emphasized the retailer’s dedication to social responsibility. He stated, “We are delighted to extend our partnership with the NSPCC and support their incredible work in helping children across the UK.” He also highlighted the generosity of Lidl’s staff and customers, noting that their contributions have already made a significant impact.
A Simple Way to Support Important Causes
By integrating the Lidl Pennies Donation System, the retailer provides an effortless way for customers to support essential charities. Small contributions at checkout will collectively create a meaningful difference for children in need.
