Morrisons has announced a significant commitment to British agriculture by pledging £1.4bn to support British farming in 2025, alongside a 5% discount for farmers to use in stores and online. This early rollout, originally planned for December, underscores the grocer’s dedication to aiding the farming community.

The discount is available to all of Morrisons‘ livestock suppliers providing lamb, beef, and pork, as well as egg farmers, fruit and vegetable growers, and dairy farmers holding contracts with the supermarket. This initiative expands Morrisons’ robust package of support for UK farming, which already includes long-term contracts and cash flow programmes.

Morrisons’ CEO Rami Baitiéh emphasized:

“Now and always, we stand shoulder to shoulder with British farmers—unsung heroes who provide the home-grown food we all rely on daily. Our £1.4bn investment in UK farming highlights our commitment to long-term relationships through contracts, cashflow schemes, and practical industry support.”

The supermarket’s ‘For Farmers’ range, featuring milk, eggs, cheese, and cream, has raised over £25m for food producers. In response to growing customer support for British agriculture, Morrisons plans to expand this range further in the coming months.

Additionally, Morrisons recently introduced a white egg pack to its Chuckle Eggs range, which is part of the wider ‘For Farmers’ initiative, returning 6p to farmers for every half-dozen box sold.

This bold investment reflects Morrisons’ role as British farming’s largest direct customer, ensuring continued support for the nation’s agricultural backbone.
