Despite organic produce costing more than conventional options, it has shown resilience in sales, growing at a rate that outpaces conventional produce. For the 52 weeks ending October 6, 2024, organic produce volume sales rose by 6.7%, compared to a 2.8% growth in conventional produce, according to market research firm Circana. This growth is happening even though the average price of organic produce stands at $2.82 per pound, versus $1.76 for conventional options.
