Walmart is stepping up its fashion game! Earlier this week, U.S. fashion designer Brandon Maxwell unveiled his spring ready-to-wear collection during the first day of New York Fashion Week. Following his runway show, he collaborated with Walmart to host a free pop-up showroom, showcasing exclusive new collections. This marks Walmart’s inaugural public participation in New York Fashion Week after several previous attempts to break into the fashion industry. Alongside this event, Walmart is launching a “Walmart Style Tour,” a traveling initiative consisting of 40 events designed to help customers enhance their personal style through consultations, giveaways, and expert tips.

The Big Price Question

While grocery prices were notably absent from the recent debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, NPR is shedding light on the underlying issues of grocery food inflation. This situation traces back to the COVID-19 pandemic when consumers stockpiled food and essential items, causing disruptions in processing and shipping. As grocers implemented safety measures like plastic barriers to protect workers, these changes impacted profit margins. Interestingly, while the profit margins on consumer packaged goods (CPG) remain stable, grocers have found lucrative opportunities in private-label products, driving their profits higher.

Deli Delight

Prepared foods have gained immense popularity and show no signs of slowing down since the pandemic. In this context, Chowhound has compiled a ranked list of “America’s Popular Chain Grocery Store Delis.” The top three delis include Wegmans, known for its quality; Sprouts Farmers Market, recognized for low prices and generous portions; and Publix, famous for its Pub Subs and extensive prepared food selection. Additionally, Publix has recently been named Supermarket News’ 2024 Retailer of the Year, highlighting its appeal in the grocery sector.

Cart Conundrum

When I bought my Honda van during the toddler years, the abundance of cup holders was a key selling point. This insight seems to have influenced Target’s redesign of its shopping carts. However, the new carts have faced criticism for their cup holder placement, which some parents find problematic. A TikTok user, The Darling Edit, highlighted that the cup holders are positioned near the cart’s bucket seat, making it easier for children to spill drinks. This design choice has drawn mixed reactions, as parents navigate the challenges of shopping with little ones in tow.

Candy Corn, Anyone?

Why settle for just eating candy corn when you can sleep in it? Brach’s has teamed up with the Great Wolf Lodge to create a candy corn-themed hotel suite where guests can immerse themselves in all things candy corn. As fall approaches, this unique marketing collaboration offers a whimsical experience for candy enthusiasts, although it might require a visit to the dentist afterward. Raise your hand if you’re tempted to stay in the candy corn suite this fall!
