Save A Lot and Leevers Supermarkets Launch Hispanic-Focused Grocery Strategy
Save A Lot and Leevers Supermarkets have joined forces to create Ahorra Mucho, a new Hispanic-focused grocery store format, with the first location launching in Aurora, Colorado. This initiative aims to better serve Hispanic shoppers by offering products and services that cater to their unique culinary preferences and shopping habits.
Ahorra Mucho will feature specialized offerings, such as:
- A full-service meat counter centrally located in the store.
- A broader selection of fresh produce.
- An in-house bakery with traditional Hispanic baked goods.
The store will act as an innovation center and test facility, where products and services will be trialed to assess how they enhance customer loyalty among Hispanic shoppers. Jorge Gonzalez, director of Ahorra Mucho, highlighted the importance of recognizing the growing Hispanic population in the U.S., which wields significant buying power. Understanding their traditions and preferences is key to shaping the store’s offerings.
This employee-owned store is part of a broader strategy by Save A Lot and Leevers Supermarkets to develop grocery formats that can serve Hispanic communities nationwide. Save A Lot, headquartered in Saint Ann, Missouri, operates around 750 stores across 32 states, while Leevers Supermarkets, based in Castle Rock, Colorado, runs 17 stores.
The launch of Ahorra Mucho reflects a broader trend of retailers tailoring their offerings to cater to diverse customer bases as the Hispanic population in the U.S. continues to grow.
