On September 12, The Save Mart Companies debuted a fully refreshed store in Riverbank, California, aimed at enhancing the shopping experience for the local community. The store, located at 2237 Claribel Road, was redesigned with significant upgrades, including:

  • Thousands of new items across various categories.
  • An expanded selection of organic produce.
  • Over 600 new wine, spirits, and beer options.
  • A dedicated cheese monger and a new floral department featuring an on-site florist.
  • The addition of a wine steward to assist customers in selecting their preferred beverages.
  • A curbside pick-up area with dedicated parking stalls.

Store director Kelly Bizzini expressed excitement about the improvements, saying, “We want to make grocery shopping exciting again and look forward to helping our customers explore new tastes and offerings.”

In celebration of the revamp, Save Mart made $5,000 in community investments, including donations to Central Valley Community Resources, Christian Family Food Sharing, Stanislaus Consolidated Fire District, Cardoza Middle School, and Riverbank High School.

In a strategic move, Save Mart was acquired in July 2024 by the Jim Pattison Group, based in Vancouver, Canada. The company, known for its retail banners such as Save-On-Foods and Buy-Low Foods, now owns Save Mart. Despite the acquisition, Shane Sampson, executive chairman of The Save Mart Companies, along with the senior leadership team, continues to lead the company.

Save Mart Companies, based in Modesto, operates 194 stores under the Save Mart, Lucky, and FoodMaxx banners. It ranks No. 53 on the 2024 PG 100 list of the top food and consumables retailers in North America and employs over 12,000 associates.
