Schnucks Caper Carts Expand While Supporting Diverse-Owned Brands

Smart Cart Technology and Business Inclusion Drive Innovation at Schnucks

Schnucks continues to enhance customer experience by expanding smart cart use and spotlighting Schnucks Caper Carts diverse-owned brands in stores. The grocer introduced smart carts equipped with artificial intelligence, built-in scales, and real-time promotion alerts. These carts now appear in more Missouri stores and will soon arrive in Illinois locations.

Shoppers benefit from greater convenience and functionality. Each cart includes a bottom tray for bulkier items like pet food or bottled water. The innovation aims to simplify shopping while delivering relevant deals instantly.

Diverse-Owned Brands Take Center Stage on Store Shelves

Schnucks also pushes forward with its Springboard accelerator, a program built to elevate diverse-owned and local businesses. These brands now receive a prominent four-week trial placement on end caps in 15 Schnucks stores.

In-store sampling events support these trials, helping drive customer interest. Brands are chosen based on growth potential, corporate responsibility, and product viability, all in partnership with the Mid-States Minority Supplier Development Council.

During the trial, participants also receive development training, networking access, and $5,000 in non-dilutive funding to build momentum.

Supporting Innovation While Building Inclusive Opportunities

Schnucks will evaluate the success of each brand after the pilot phase, with potential for permanent placement in stores. This approach aligns with the grocer’s broader mission of encouraging innovation while supporting equity in commerce.
