According to Thrive Market‘s latest guidelines, the “Thrive Market Approved” label ensures that all 5,500 brand-name and private-label products available on its website meet stringent criteria, with less than a 10% acceptance rate. These products are:

  • 100% non-GMO.
  • Free from over 1,000 restricted ingredients, including artificial flavors, antibiotics, synthetic nitrates and nitrites, and parabens.
  • Shipped exclusively using carbon-neutral methods, as Thrive Market prohibits air shipping due to its five times greater carbon footprint compared to ground shipping.
  • Available on Thrive Market, which is the first grocer to become a Public Benefit Corporation, legally required to balance purpose with profit, caring for all stakeholders, from the planet to farmers to its members.
  • Ethically sourced, with priority given to items bearing certifications from organizations that confirm ethical animal practices, such as Fair Trade USA, Global Animal Partnership, and Leaning Bunny.

“At Thrive Market, we believe finding products you can trust shouldn’t be that complicated,” said April Lane, the company’s chief merchandising officer, who joined the Los Angeles-based firm this past May. “With our new quality standards, we’re proud to set the highest bar in the industry, ensuring that every product we offer is 100% non-GMO and free of more than 1,000 restricted ingredients. Our commitment to ethical sourcing and sustainability reflects our dedication to balancing purpose with profit, and we’re thrilled to provide our members with the assurance that every item they purchase is Thrive Market Approved.”
