Weis Markets Introduces Ready-to-Drink Cocktails at Pennsylvania Locations

Weis Markets has expanded its offering at beer-wine cafés across Pennsylvania by introducing a selection of ready-to-drink cocktails, following the recent enactment of Act 86 of 2024. As of Wednesday, September 18, 92 Weis Markets locations in the state now offer customers the convenience of purchasing ready-to-drink cocktails, with up to 37 popular options available, including local brands like Stateside and Surfside.

This new offering provides customers with a wide variety of premium pre-mixed cocktails, enhancing their shopping experience by allowing them to find everything in one place. Bob Gleeson, Weis Markets’ Senior Vice President of Merchandising and Marketing, commented, “Introducing ready-to-drink cocktails to our Pennsylvania beer-wine cafés will offer both convenience and variety to our customers’ shopping experience. This new offering allows our customers to find a wide range of premium pre-mixed cocktails all in one place, saving them an extra trip.”

This move follows similar initiatives by other supermarket chains in the state. Earlier in the week, The Giant Co. announced its plans to offer ready-to-drink cocktails at 138 of its stores across Pennsylvania, following the approval of necessary permits from the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The new law, which came into effect on September 15, 2024, permits the sale of pre-mixed distilled liquor-based cocktails in containers up to 16 ounces.
