With Black Friday Behind, Grocers Shift Focus to Holiday Deals
As the holiday shopping season kicks into high gear, grocery retailers are turning their attention to attracting customers with enticing offers before the January shopping lull. With Black Friday now behind them, grocers are rolling out holiday promotions aimed at increasing foot traffic and online sales during this crucial time.
Kroger has kicked off the post-Black Friday shopping season with its 12 Merry Days of Deals sale, running from Dec. 4-15. This event features a new digital deal every day, available exclusively on the Kroger website and app. Shoppers can redeem each deal up to five times per transaction, with a redemption window through Dec. 17. Customers can take advantage of these digital-only offers either in-store, via Kroger Pickup, or through delivery. One of the highlights of the event is the celebration of National Cookie Day on Dec. 4. From Dec. 4-10, Kroger loyalty members can claim a free two-count pack of Bakery Fresh Hot Cocoa Cookies with the purchase of any 12-count Bakery Fresh Cookies.
Meanwhile, Dollar General is also getting into the holiday spirit with its 24 Days of Savings promotion, launched in late November. This advent calendar-style sale offers a new deal each day through Dec. 24, in addition to Dollar General’s Decked Out in Deals event, which provides discounts on over 6,000 items.
Not to be outdone, Natural Grocers, based in Lakewood, Colo., is running its Holly Deals sale from Dec. 7-23. The event features savings of up to 50% on holiday essentials like party foods, baking goods, health products, and stocking stuffers. The grocer will kick off the sale with a Candy Cane Scavenger Hunt event on Dec. 7, where shoppers at each of its 168 locations can win gift cards ranging from $5 to $50 by finding hidden candy canes. Additionally, the first 200 customers at each store will receive free organic coffee and a holiday treat.
To boost its online presence, Natural Grocers is offering exclusive promotions on social media platforms like Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok, with chances to win $100 gift cards through its Instagram page by Dec. 4.
With this year’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales already showing strong performance, including Amazon announcing that Nov. 21 to Dec. 2 was its biggest shopping event yet, the holiday season is set to continue with strong consumer demand. As grocers roll out holiday deals and discounts, shoppers can expect to find a variety of trending gifts and festive items, making this a competitive period for retailers. Amazon is also offering discounts of up to 40% on select fashion and fitness products from brands like Columbia, Hugo Boss, and Lacoste, along with fast Prime delivery, perfect for last-minute shoppers.
